Anyone have any thoughts about moving closer to town because gas prices are getting to high to afford? I hear that they are going over $3.00 hear soon. Next year who knows what those crooks will want for a gallon of gas. They are ripping us off big time. I'm sick of their lies.

This topic has been kicked to death. Please be specific....who are "those crooks"? Also please provide the documentation that they are "ripping us off big time", and what are their lies?

They offer you gasoline for $3.15 a gallon (or whatever)....you give them $3.15 and they give you a gallon of gas. How is that a rip off? If one can't explain the supply chain from exploration to final pumping at the gas station and demonstrate an understanding of the costs and risks at each level I fail to understand how one can presume to know the price is a rip off.

Gasoline is cheap here relative to the price in much of the rest of the world. It is cheaper than bottled water. Until very recently the price of gasoline had not risen nearly as much as new home prices over the last 40 years. Were those crooks ripping off new home buyers through the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s?

No thoughts of moving closer here but I am curious, how much would you save after the move?

Don't you find it odd that a 5 dollar increase to a barrel of crude equates to a 25 to 50 cent increase per gallon at the pumps? If you do the math it just doesn't add up (for us)
Doesn't the fact that the oil companies have built no new refineries in the last 30 years and in fact are closing a few and then they blame this lack of refineries as one of the reasons for high prices..doesn't that bother you?
Can't you see the record breaking profits these oil companies are reporting each quarter? Each one larger than the last? How is that possible?
Why does a terrorist attack in bum_hump mean I have to pay 30 cents more this month than last month? Sure the scare made a barrel of oil a few dollars more that week but we pay out the nose a LOT more than those few dollars and all the money helps the oil companies post profits, NOT EXPENSES due to the scare but profits and in fact more profit than any company on earth has ever made...ever!
It's not right. You are darn right we are being ripped off.
Your argument holds no water in the part where you say they post the price, then we buy it. Free market right?
WRONG.
We are a captive audience. We have NO CHOICE but to buy it if we want to live that is. Your argument assumes we have a choice but come-on, we have ZERO choice. You either pay or you stay home, simple as that.

We are being played and they (Big Oil) are laughing all the way to the bank..then they will buy the bank.
