That looks too nice for my garage!

Cabinets are nice to keep mice out.

I go both ways on this. I used to like everything hidden and neat, but now like quick access too. I used to hate peg boards.

No one has wondered why his garage is painted green?

The knick knacks do seem hoagie roadie for a guy, and a garage. But I like junk. I am more inclined to decorate it like a guy though.

I like the open shelf idea with the exception of power tools. I prefer to have them in a cabinet.
As to the original post - - - - very nice!!

Test your finish in an area that will not be visible later or on a test piece!

I got a bunch of nicely silvered roughsawn boards for porch beams, and just sanded the whiskers off to bring out the saw marks and make them nicer to handle. When I went to apply poly to them, all the remaining silver dissolved off (I could tell because it all ended up on the rags) and left them a dark greyish brown, with the saw whisker highlights. I still like the look, it just wasn't what I was originally aiming for. As the finish has dried and aged over several months, it has lightened just a tad, too.

Yes always test. I have used this wood on several projects and knew how the clear poly would work. There several types of clear finishes that produce different effects and I usually keep several type around.

Just like when I stain a new piece I usually do a story board with different stains and clear coats to see which I perfer.

If it is going in garage, where do you put stickers?

I needed some storage in the garage and looked at the metal cabinets at Lowes. It would have cost around $1500.00 or more.

So I spent $150.00 on 2x4's a couple of sheets of plywood and hinges. Went to the farm and got some 100 year old barn wood, tin and a old cabinet, window, and built what I wanted. Plus I saved $$$$$.

That's neat! Looks too nice for a garage, as others have said.
