I still have a el-cheapo caliber from 20 years ago and I think was a work progress to, every measurement that dial is off, just like me so I cant complain to much. If I ever get the bugs out of this Smithy and start doing some serious lathing I'll have to get a up-dated caliber, probably digital so if-fen a round stock is .038" the caliber is going to say .038" one time and or 99% of the time without constant calibration. Also it would be nice if it translated .038" into a tape measure fraction that I can understand but if not I have the link.....

With this lathe in place it produced some wasted space so I turned the top into a big shelf that needs a swinging ladder on hinges to make use of this new found storage place. Next I'll rail it in just in case I get old...........

Sweet. A four ft led shop light would surely light up your workspace.

So, my main annoyance was having to go in the house to get a beer each time. I replaced my old refrigerator (still worked perfectly) with a new energy efficient Samsung...then it hit me...Ill put this old fridge in the garage and keep my beer there.

Well-so much for saving electricity though the solar panels help - but now I just reach into the fridge and grab a beer from the garage LOL. Wife makes sure I always have a fresh 12 pack in it(She also use the freezer to store bulk frozen items). When I have a BBQ or fire pit night we keep the snacks and stuff we want to eat BBQ or smoke in that fridge too.

Might want to get you spell checker to recognize difference in "caliber" and "caliper"....

I looked at your link, no wonder you are confused.

Just print out a chart like the one attached, staple it close by the lathe so you can easily convert decimals to fractions or the other way around.

Yes I need about two more of them, I have two 2' long ones now, white paint in a garage would help to.

That's a good one, the spell check I have now is terrible, need one like on my smart phone that one sometimes reads my mind.
