I am looking for some help with my 4wd not engaging on my tractor that I bought four years ago used. and I have never had a problem with it until now. Both the 4wd switch and the light were on but my front wheels were not engaged.
I hired a mechanic to come look at it, and he told me that it was not electrical and he believed the problem was located in the 4wd actuator or hydraulic valve block. He came to this conclusion because he switched the connections from the rear PTO and he was able to get the 4wd to work. Because my tractor is so old it is very difficult to locate parts. I only use it around my house and never drive it on the road.
With that said, my 4wd started working again today. I was wondering if I disconnect the power that engages the magnets that move the actuator for the four wheel drive, if my tractor would be always operating in four-wheel-drive. That assumption is based on if the actuator is causing the problem. I know it’s not ideal but it might be the easiest
