No change for oil in the future if electric is the way.

Electric tractor. No hydraulics needed

Ford and GM and Elon forgot to calculate not enough electricity , 5 billion in the hole

Why wouldnt there be a need for hydraulics? An electric actuator is slow. An electric tractor will still have a bucket and need hydraulics. Me….i can never see me getting an electric car, truck or tractor.

Not all electronic actuators or servos are slow

In fact some hydraulics are slow

If you believe that an electric actuator can be as simple, strong, and comfortable to operate as hydraulics, just drive a car with hydraulic steering versus the numb feel of electric torque management. I question even 48 Volts. But having a useless EV laying around as a Miller Bobcat clone is priceless.
Honet, I'm gunna take the LeaF out to the back 40 to weld that danged busted gate hinge.

It will be awhile before linear actuators can match the brute force of hydraulic cylinder in the same package size. Will that day come.. possibly. Same with hydraulic motor vs electric motor. I can lift a hydraulic motor that produces torque of 100 HP but have not found 100 HP electric motor that I can lift.

Hydraulics are an extra energy conversion to get from the battery to the end movement.

There are presses capable of 100s of tons that are electrically driven.

I work on electrical machines with servo motors over 50 shaft hp

It's nothing new

The electric motor in a tesla is a fraction of the size of its industrial hp rated counterpart

And will produce full power for how long before burning up vs industrial counterpart.

Electric has its place but it is not everyplace same as hydraulics, diesel engines, etc.

Duty cycle. Operate within it and it womt burn up.

We can calculate motor heating based on current. I2c loss

Hydraulics are here to stay. Mega mining equipment has ran on electric motors for decades. But they still use hydraulics to move the boom. Linear actuators aren’t even close to as good as hydraulics.

A 2 liter turbo V6 can make the same power as a 3406 cat. But the cat does it for a million miles.

Not really the same comparison

Linear actuators are typically not 100% duty cycle applications.

Also, vehicles rarely run at 100% rated power.

An excavator runs the cylinders in and out basically the entire time it’s running. Maybe not at 100 percent capacity but digging virgin dirt out of a bank and loading trucks isn’t easy work either. Plenty of other equipment works the hydraulic hard. Vehicles not running at 100 percent power was kinda the point. I’m sure a Tesla motor works fine in a Tesla but it’s not going in a rock crusher anytime soon.

I can't understand how anyone can think the future is going to be electric. In the last 3 years our electricity has been off at least 4 times. We constantly hear of states talking about brown outs and warning the power will go out. Remember Texas a few years ago? Cold weather and then the power goes out and then Disaster.

The cleanest burning fuel has always been Natural Gas. I never ever expected the Gov to attack NG. Why would I trust anyone who wants to ban the cheapest and cleanest fuel we have? You better hope we never go full electric!

Wake Up America!
