Fuse box on B7800

Does anyone know what the fuse marked work light is for on a B7800? I don't have a work light at this point. Is this an unused fuse (20 amp)? I'm not very electrical literate. I would think I could add extra lights right to this fuse if it is currently unused.

I'm only guessing but my B7800 has a wire in the back by the ROPS and the serviceman said it was for a light so maybe that is what the fuse is for? I do have work lights on my cab but I'm not sure if they're fed from this fuse. Could very well be.

I think it's the same as it was on my B2710. There was a wire under the seat for auxilliary lights. Mine was a little hard to find, but not bad, because the end of it was taped to a taillight wire. It even has a connector on the end of it. I used that to run to a three-way switch mounted on my canopy and had a flood light to the rear and a trapezoidal light to the front to supplement the headlights.

I was going to inquire about the topic this morning. I want to connect 2 (maybe 4) work lights to the ROPS.

55 watts ea. x 4 = 220 watts. 220/12v = 18.3 amps ...correct??

I am thinking the 20 amp fuse should be ok.

There are two wires on the inside of the fender below the ROPS & right rear taillight. They are taped to the tailight wires.

One has a female bullet connector (+) and the other a ring terminal (-).

I have two questions...

Why a ring terminal??

Do I need a relay? The lights I bought (small 55w fog lights) did not come with a relay, only a 3 terminal switch for each pair of lights. I am assuming the 3 lugs are; line, load, and ground.

I believe the ring terminal goes on the mounting stud of your light. Does your switch have 3 positions? If so then it's probably a single pole double throw switch. It might be an on-off-on switch.

Technically no .... a relay would protect the switch .... but if you buy a switch which is designed to handle the load you are running thru it you shouldn't need to.

My original lights were from Harbor Freight and came with a cheesy rocker switch (not waterproof) - I chucked that and bought decent waterproof switches which were designed to handle double the load (or more) than I was going to be putting thru them ... and then mounted them in NEMA waterproof box.

Correct.

BUT, the stock dynamo is only good for 14.5 amps. If you turn all your lights on at once you will be draining your battery. To be on the safe side I would upgrade to the 40 amp alternator if you haven't already done so. That will give you plenty of capacity to light your tractor up like a christmas tree. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks for the feedback. Looking at the back of the tractor, by the right turn signal wires, I see one red wire with some sort of quick connect. No other obvious unused wire. Should there be another wire or two? How tough up grading the alternator? Approx. how much?

I put some additional lights on my 7800 this past weekend, and was concerned about the extra power drain. I have two 55 watt lights aimed out front, and 1 55 watt for the rear. I have the front and rear on separate switches, so I don't have to turn them all on at once. The main problem I had was finding a good place to mount the switches without having to drill holes, and have them somewhat protected from the weather. I used some sheet aluminum and configured a holder under the right side of the seat. I used a hole that was already there. Not real pretty, but I think it will work. Not quite finished yet, but if you are interested in a picture, let me know.

You need to order a B7312 from your dealer. Price will be around $165 or so. Several people have done the installation themselves. It's not hard and takes a few hours. Do a search here and you will find the posts.
