I have bought a JD 790 that has been parked the past 2 years. It has only 65 hours on it, but because it has been sitting the valves in the injector pump seems to be stuck. No fuel. I have plenty of supply to the pump, but none out. I read on a forum that I should 'tap' on the pump as I turn the engine over, I will try that tomorrow. But if that doesn't work, what should be the next step?

Well, I tried the "tapping" trick while turning the engine over....there was no luck. Removed the fuel lines at the top of the pump, no fuel at all when I spin the engine over. Any ideas? Will I have to take the pump in for repairs?

Is there any way that you could "pressure" some fuel to the pump while cranking over. Maybe taking the line off at the tank & using an air hose to try to "force" it into the pump. I would empty the inlet line of fuel, then fill it with Seafoam, then try to force that into the pump. Let it sit for a day & then try starting it.
Seafoam is wonderful stuff for removing varnishes & carbon….. today's fuel is absolute CRAP!
