Fuel Usage

( Mike, Maybe your not using as much as you think? I thought my Turbo was using too much fuel also.
When my fuel gauge showed dead empty I discovered that I still had approx 6 gals left because it only held 10.2 gals.
I wish Bobcat would fix this problem. It's a guessing game from the 10th to the 16th gallon. If semi's can draw from two separate tanks and give an accurate reading Bobcat's engineers should be able to do the same. )
Big_Daddy,
Thanks for pointing out that the Toolcat fuel guage only measures the level in the 10.2 gal main fuel tank, even though B and C series Turbo models have 16 gal diesel fuel capacities. The guage is FULL with 16 gals are in the tanks, reads HALF when 10.9 gals are left, and reads EMPTY starting when 5.8 gals are still there in the auxillary fuel tank! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Now we have it confirmed as a problem both in my B and your C series 5600 Turbos with 16 gal fuel capacities. I'm sure quite a few are thinking they've used up 16 gallons when they've only used 10.2. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Yes my dealer told me that the guage is really inaccurate but I want to be on the safe side so I put the extra tank in!

Mike,

After operating my B series turbo units with the Blowers I will say that the Blower unit consumes more fuel that a blade or bucket. I would say that with the blower on a during the heavy storms with constant operations, I was burning more like 1 1/2 to 2 gallons an hour during actual operations, and not "road time".

I've been mowing a lot lately with my 'A' series. I need to measure it once but it sure seems closer to 1.5 to 2 gal per hour.

My toolcat takes about 45 litres to fill the tank. It lasts for about 9 hours. Thats about 5 litres per hour or just over a gallon. At $1 per litre that's five dollars per hour. Not bad compared to my John Deeres at $10 per hour.

Brian is lucky with his inaccurate gauge. My C was reading about 1/8 of a tank, not yet into the read, when my engine conked out and wouldn't restart. I had the Bobcat road tech out and, you guessed it, it was out of fuel.

He ordered a new sensor for the fuel tank only to discovered when he installed it that he couldn't get the fuel gauge to read below that mark, even when he manually extended the sensor to the lowest possible position. So now I'm waiting on a new gauge. And having to refuel every time my current gauge reads below a half tank, just to make sure.

Just a reminder, check for air filter{filters} my ASV has 2. from the other feed backs sound normal. My ASV burns 5 gal an hour, mulcher head requires full thottle.I have found that if you back off a turbo just a hair it will save a little fuel.
