Fuel shut off valve

OK, I finally got around to buying one of these. Does it matter if the shut off is installed before or after the fuel pump?

I'd install it where it was easiest to get to and before anything so i could turn off the gas to work on things if needed.

for me, clearly before the fuel pump, or before fuel filter, if there is no shutoff on the fuel filter...b ut you gotta put it where it will fit.

Twice my float valve failed and I ended up with a crankcase full of gasoline. No more. I installed an inline shut off valve about four inches below the tank where is is easy to reach when the engine is hot.
