Today is the first problem I've had with the shut off valve, and it worked fine yesterday.

After using my tractor today i went to turn the fuel off and it WILL NOT turn.

I worked on it for over an hour & even sprayed some WD-40 on it but it won't close.

It fills tight & could break off if i really force it.

anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like something internally stopping it up.

Drain tank and remove and clean valve. What ?, you thought this was going to be easy ?

If valve isn't removable, drain and try blowing backwards through valve with some compressed air. Heck, even a can of keyboard cleaner would work.

Well i am almost empty on fuel.

Yea i thought it would be easy:D

I'll check it out in the morning & spray everything i have on it.....I'll try the keyboard cleaner.

Have you had this happen before ?

I'm almost afraid to say I don't even shut off my fuel. So, no, not on this machine.

But, I had a valve similar on a motorcycle tank that froze stiff with that whitish buildup you get with alum valves/fittings.

A good cleaning and lots of lube and slowly working it back and forth got it working again.

Willl,

I got the shut off valve to work today.

I sprayed it down with "nut buster" and was able to work it back & forth without breaking it off.

Very cool.

Any idea what was hanging it up ?

No,

The day before it worked fine, and yesterday when i went to turn the fuel off it was so stiff that i couldn't turn it by hand, and i was afraid it would break off if i used channel-locks.

Just one of those  days.
