I've got 2007 kioti ck30hst and I thought I narrowed my problem down to the injection pump. I removed it and the pin that slides back and forth moves freely. From what I've read this pin usually seizes up when the pump goes bad, but it's not. Does it necessarily mean anything that this pin is not stuck? Should I be looking at something else? The other fuel pump appears to be pumping fuel but it's kind of a weak spurt, maybe 4 inches. I do get fuel out the bleeding plug on the injector pump but not out the top. I guess my main question is.....how do I know for sure the injection pump is bad before I drop $1100 on a new one? Thanks for your help.

If anyone can offer any advice I'd appreciate it.

Since you already have the pump off take it to a diesel injection service shop that can bench test it. If it were bad they could rebuild it cheaper than a new one, unless those pumps are just throw away?

I don't know if they are throw away but I understand these pumps were originally made with some plastic parts that can break and the newer replacements are better. I have no confirmation of that but if true I don't know if it can be rebuilt with the more robust parts. I just thought maybe there was some other way I could tell if it's good. I reinstalled it and cranked the engine without connecting the fuel lines back up. There is fuel getting into the injector pump but nothing coming out the top three holes that the fuel lines connect to. Do the fuel lines have to all be connected in order to build up pressure, or should I see some fuel coming out anyway?

I think you should be getting fuel out of the top ports...at least some flow. When you need to bleed injector lines, you loosen the connection at the injector, and fuel comes out under pressure even with the loss of restriction the line and injector cause (not a complete loss, but significant).

I'd get the pump tested.

Thanks, Gman. I'm probably going to have it tested unless it is cost prohibitive.
