Oil & Fuel Fuel gauge reading wrong

Mine's the same way. Better than running out and having to bleed the fuel system all the time.

I've had four Kubotas and not one had an accurate fuel gauge. For me, I just learned to live with it and adjust accordingly.

Oh, and don't get me started on the temperature gauge. Seems stuck at 1/4 unless bush hogging and the radiator is plugged.

Here"s the reading on a new MX5100 Kubota that has a 12.7 gallon gas gauge.
I filled it when it was half full and it took 4 gallons. Should have taken 6.3.
With the tank at 1/4 today it took 5.7 when the math says it should have taken 9.5.
Beats me but that's just the way Kubotas are--all over the place.

I think the manufacturer doesn't trust us to use an accurate fuel guage so they add a safety cushion to protect us. I guess they figure we can run backhoes, log splitters, front loaders and grapples, but those gas guages can be really tricky. It's like those spring loaded sink faucets at the airport that give you one teaspoon of water before they shut off. Can't trust travelers with something as sophisticated as a real faucet with a handle.

On my L4300 yesterday, and models and tanks are similar or exact, a lower than 1/4 reading on the tank took 4.7 gallons to fill an 8.2 gallon tank so it had 3.5 gallons left. Now, when it was just a little off of "E", 3 1/2 gallons got the gauge up to a reading of "FULL". It didn't stay there long but it showed it.

When using with a filled tank, it took a very long time of use to get the gauge to move off of full but then it precepitously dropped. Marketing must show that customers like it this way. Maybe it reinforces user belief of fuel economy or maybe Kubota figures they know better? I wish the gauge showed accurately with a "reserve" indicator light or mark or whatever so I could figure it out for myself. If that idea shows up in a couple of years, you read it here first.

If you have ever notice the shape of most fuel tanks you will see they are irregular shapes. That being the case it would be impossible to have a gauge that read accurately so they plug in a margin of error so you fill the tank before you run out. How many would be really p****d if they ran out of fuel with the gauge at a 1/4?

Yesterday I also filled an MX5100 and with the fuel gauge at a whisker above half it took 5.5 gallons on a 12.7 gallon tank. That means 43% of the fuel was gone and the gauge read about where it should, perhaps with a little wiggle room for operator error in there. If so, maybe Kubota has already addressed the issue?
I'll try to run it down to 1/4 this week and check that reading.
