I just got my L3000dt and have been bladeing waiting for my woods bb60c. it got delivered today and i went to mowing . as i was mowing i noticed i had about 4 hours on it . the fuel gage had not moved at all. i thought the thing wasnt working and was thinking great ! at about 5 hours it moved!!!!!!
i know everybody talks about how cool they run but they are sure easy on fuel.
How many hours of work can you get out of a tank of diesel?

i dont know how big the tank is on your l3000 but i will run through a tank on my b2910 in about 4 hours of hard use. you might want to make sure your fuel gauge is adjusted correctly. i had to have mine fixed....it would read full when it was only half full and half when it was empty.

My 2910 fuel tank holds 6.9 gallons. I can cut my 2 acres 3 times before the gage drops below 1/2. I then fill the tank. In the spring I only get about 2 cuts before it drops below 1/2. I have to go slower and it takes more power to cut the heavy grass.
Tractors with HST uses more fuel than ones with straight gear drive. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif
Until you have put fuel in the tank a few times. I would make sure the gage is working accurately by checking the level in tank each time.

It isn't the same tractor but I get about 1 hour per gallon on my 3010. Not sure if this is any help at all to you but I use that in conjunction with the gauge for adding fuel.

my b2400 has a 6 gal tank and when it gets down to a little less thn 1/2 on gauge i top it off with2.5 gal of fuel. this brings it right back to full. think u might want to check gauge for accuracy

It is moving just fine now. i wasn't working it hard. when i started running the hog it moved . i think playing with the box blade i just wasnt working it. i was on it for two hours this afternoon and its working. i checked the tank best i could and it has diesel. i'm going to put some in it tomorrow and see how much it takes to fill it. thanks

I seem to get about 8 hours or so of general use out of 5 gallons in my B2910.

This would be a combination of mowing, loader work, backhoe, etc.

I amazes me how much I can get done on one five gallon can of fuel.

I've got 65 hours on my L3000DT and still have not had to add any fuel!

OK - maybe not, but I've noticed that it's real easy on fuel. Last time I used the FEL and BB, it ran over 6 hours and still had about 1/4 tank left. Mowing reduces the "mileage", but I'm still very pleased with the results.

I do think that the gauge reading may be similar to some car/truck fuel tanks - when you fill them up it takes longer to get that first reading drop. Might be the position of the rheostat/sender inside the tank.

Anyway, I wish my truck got this kind of mileage.

I'll second that. My 3410 went from 09:00 to 17:00 not including a 25 min road run on both ends and only used about 6 gal of fuel. That was moving wet sand to fill in a basement foundation and raise the grade by over 4'. 2200 to 2500 RPM constant for the whole time minus lunch brake.

The road runs seemed to be tougher on fuel. PTO speed in high range and the temp was up to 1/4 on the guage. Never got past 1/8th when moving dirt.

Chevdog said it. when i was just playing with the bblade i didnt burn much fuel. now i have spent a few hours cutting and yes i had to add some fuel . i put about four gallons in it. i have a little over 8 hours in a week. i have no complaints with it. i had doubts about it's abilitys but it is surprising me.
I found a good use for the FEL. i had some dead limbs in some trees just out of reach. so eased up to where the fel bucket would just skim them. knocked them right out. had a dead pine that had uprooted into another tree. eased up to and knocked the sucker to the ground. safer than cutting it.
i like this tractor stuff.
