BX2200D
My BX2200D was choking and dying. I had just recently replaced fuel filters and got good flow from the tank, bought some anyway. Bought a pump, ignition switch and shut off switch. Shut off solenoid was the easiest to replace so did it first. The actuator pin is internal so it’s easier to replace than trouble shoot. Not the problem, now I have an extra. Replaced the pump, not the problem, now I have an extra. OK, the filers. I used a medical locking clamp to stop the fuel but only a dribble came out! It’s the tank. Blew air back through the line and it plugged back up again in a half hour. I need a tractor size snow blower so I simply ran a line up through the top of the tank. Apparently, the pump was dry and is not self-priming. I added an outboard motor bulb pump, gave it ten squeezes and it fired up! I’m not working on the tank until summer so I drilled a hole through the cap, cut a V on the end of the 3/8 suction line, stuck it in and started blowing snow out of my alley! I filter every ounce that goes into that tank, so it will be interesting to see what’s in there. If anyone ever asks me, I’ll say, “trust me, the easiest thing to test is the tank, take off the first filter to check flow from the tank.”

I have a BX2200 also. How big a snowblower to drive with it? We have had so little snow here in Southern MD for the last decade I've had no need for a blower here. I do use a 5ft PTO driven rear snow blower (on an older, somewhat larger B2150) up in the mountains.

In the Northern Lower Michigan the snow accumulation of snow goes from none to buried. I use a 5 foot wide front mount blower, it churns through hard pack. The slush at the ends of our alley bogs it down so I use a 5 foot back blade to move that out. I go by sound and just try not to stress it.

I am not sure how your tank is set up, My BX25 was doing the same thing and I cut an access panel that uses an Aluminum plate with a rubber gasket on the outside and a aluminum ring on the inside to sandwich it. I was able to clean the whole tank and install the access panel all within an Hour. The issue on mine was the fitting coming out of the tank was plugged, I was able to run punch though it and also blow it out really well. I did add a bigger external filter as well. Tractor runs great with zero leaks.

I had a BX2200 bought new in 2001 I think. About 3 years in, was having same type fuel problems. Found out online , the fuel level sender in the tank was disintegrating. Cut out the unit, blew out and vacuumed the tank of all the bits, and plugged the hole. Put in some fuel, got it sloshed around good, then changed the first filter again. Had the unit till 2012 and 900 hours and never had any more problems with fuel flow.

Yes My sender was rusty as well, I did leave the sender in since I have the access panel now and can clean it out quickly and easily. I was able to get the fuel gauge working again by moving the float around and getting it freed up.

Thanks Joe,
That's how I planned my fix in warmer weather. My tank is like a cyst, it fits in all unused space under the seat, can't get to the bottom without pulling it.

Thanks Lost,
I was wondering what got in there, maybe it was built that way! When I pull the tank I'll get rid of anything that can cause it again.
