Oil & Fuel Fuel caddy with pump

My back hasn't got any better over time and I have the same problem. I have 6 ea. 2 1/2 gallon plastic gas containers that I keep full of diesel. 2 1/2 gallons in plastic is easy enough to lift up to the tank for filling the tractor and easy enough to have in the back of the truck when going in to town 30 miles away to fill up the truck. Almost never a drop spilled. My tractor has a 8 gal diesel tank and three of these is a fill up. Low cost, low tec, easy to move and lift.

I made a stand to hold two plastic 55 gallon roundup drums about 4 1/2 feet off the ground. I installed fuel barrel hoses and nozzles on them for gravity feed. To fill them I set two drums in the back of the pickup and then use a hand pump from Harbor Freight to transfer the fuel to the overhead drums. I just back the truck up to the barrels and pump the fuel in. I use one barrel for gasoline and one for diesel (and they are very well marked to prevent screw ups). The heaviest thing I have to handle is the emptry plastic drums and I don't have to have an air line (although that is a good idea). I only have about $80 invested and have used this set up for a couple of years.

I bought three five gallon cans. One stays home and I take two and get them filled. When I get home, I fill the empty one half way and now I have two, two-and-a-half "five gallon" cans, that can be easily lifted for fueling. Gerard
