If you believe man or man made material can withstand mother nature, you're not as smart as I thought you were.

Besides that, the flag in the video was tattered. Personally, the guy flying that flag did more desecration to the flat than any football player could do kneeling beacuse HE was the one who put it up there.

The flag wasn't tattered when it went up. They guy couldn't risk his life to go out and take it down, and I wouldn't expect anyone to do that. I'm sure he'll take care of it as soon as it's humanly possible.

My wife and I walk through a cemetery 3-4 times a week after dinner. I can't count the number of flags placed at veterans graves that we've picked up that got blown over. Probably a couple hundred over the last 20 years. We put them back up if we know which graves they belong to. But the ones just laying in the grass next to the road, we pick up and take home. Every few years we give them to the Boy Scouts or American Legion for proper disposal.

My dad was a big flag guy. Always put it up on special days, and took it down at dusk. When I was little, back in the early 60's, he was still flying a 48 star flag. He was very happy when he got his 50 star flag and retired the 48. I still have it.

I'm pretty certain that was a remote camera as no one was going to stay there during this storm (assuming it was for the hurricane).

You don't put up a Flag IMO when
1 - You have no clue when you are coming back to inspect the Flag
2 - You know a hurricane is coming

Guess they shouldn't have left the flags on the moon. Better call NASA.

Thank you for proving my point.

In the grand scheme of things do I lose sleep over people's ignorance on Flag Etiquette? Heck no.

Do I lose sleep over football players kneeling for the NA? Heck no as well.

What I find more disturbing is everyone else who knows jack crap about Flag Etiquette losing sleep or getting pissed at a bunch of football players kneeling for the NA:D

The kneeling doesn't bother me at all, given their stated intention as to why they're kneeling. But flag burning kinda sets me off. Not to the point of violence, though. Just to the point of Grrrr...

Part of my whole point...

A man kneeling in front of the Flag shows more respect to the Flag than burning it.

The reality is a bunch of us get our pants all up in a tightwad over nothing other than the fact that we WANT to feel pissed off.

If the NA is playing and the person "disrepecting" flag is doing NOTHING to draw attention to themselves, who should really care? (the REALITY is by kneeling, we GIVE those people the attention they are looking for by looking AT THEM instead of the flag).

Now, if the football players turned their back on the flag or made obscene gestures, that would be another story IMHO.

That's still were I disagree, especially if you are going to nit pick flag etiquette. It states to stand, face the flag, with your hand over your heart.

One is absolute disrespect, the other is unintentional ignorance typically.

I don't lose sleep. But I don't like it.
