Grapple Frontier Root

/ Frontier Root #2
I purchased one in November and use it every weekend -- rarely have the bucket attached. I've had some recent difficulty attaching the 3rd function hydraulic line. Other than that, I have no hesitation recommending it. The unit is great for picking up debris and clearing old fence rows.

I have the AV20G and also use it with my 10000 lb skidsteer. It is very stout, 950 +/- pounds, and iis till perfectly straight after grubbing out mesquite stumps. The only damage I have done to it is rip off 2 of the replaceable teeth.

I have the av20e and it's the best thing I've ever seen for a tractor, it is indestructible, I see other people describing the tines on theirs being 3/8 steel or 1/2 in this has 1 inch thick steel!!! It has snapped 10 inch cedars that I clamped too tight like I can snap a toothpick!! Worth every penny!!

Is the Frontier AV20H Root grapple a quality unit?

The tine spacing is 15" which is about double of other makes. It should be great logs and stumps but I would think if you want to pick up smaller debris you would want some additional lower tines of about 8" spacing.

The wider tine spacing makes it much better for raking without picking up a lot of dirt. The tines also extend far below the bottow pipe that allows it to rake deeper without pulling dirt.

Does anyone have the specs on the different Frontier models?
Which ones will the 4x20's handle?

Your 4X20 should have a 400X or 400CX Loader. The AV20H (60 in.) and AV20E (62 in.) are compatible with both FELs.
I have the AV20H and love it. You'll also need BW15260 Third SCV Kit (Open Station)

Does the AV20E have two hydraulic cylinders?

AV20H model has only one hydraulic cylinder which is centered on the unit.

Would you see an advantage having two cylinders like the E model?

Two is far better than one. When a log turns and holds one open, the other is free to clamp the small debris that would otherwise fall out.

I suppose you can get a better grip on irregularly shaped objects, since each of the top units can close independently.
