Just thought I'd share my experience mounting a Superwinch Terra 45 to the front of my 2520. Given the mounting location, this was the biggest physical size/dimension that would fit, also had the largest pulling capacity for this form factor. Also, as a plus since I only have the 20A alternator, this winch being a permanent magnet draws considerably less than the series wound counterparts. I searched amongst many forums and couldn't find anyone doing this on the 2520, so I thought I would share these photos to hopefully give someone else a hand, and let them know it is possible. I have already used the winch a couple of times to get myself out of some less than favorable situations, as well as a number of log pulls from the woods to the trails where they can be easily bucked and put into a wagon.

BTW this is my first post other than a review, so go easy on me.

Welcome to TBN and you are doing great. Thanks for some neat pictures! They are always appreciated.

That looks like a handy spot. What situations were you in that needed the winch?
I can think of a few as well, but have yet to consider the winch idea.

Appears you will need to remove the winch to put the FEL on, or isn't that a problem for you?

Actually I made sure it will clear the loader for normal operating. If you use the tractor as a deadman just put the bucket in the dirt and the winch cable goes right over the top. Or if you need to roll you can lift the bucket up a little and the line goes under. Obviously need to use common sense and pull relatively straight on with the bucket up a little.

As far as situations go.... mud while pulling my trailer loaded with firewood. I generally have to cross a couple of muddy sections to make it back to the house.

Curious but what is the single line pull rating on the winch???

Looks pretty good. I always like when people post there pick of the stuff they home make. I gives me ideas. Keep us updated with other add ons.

I would opt for a Warn Winch if possible. The Superwinch I had a few years ago was super loud.

Nice job. I've always wanted one. But, from reading on here, I kept getting pointed to a hydraulic winch instead of electric. I'd like a hydro one. Maybe one of these days I'll get off my butt and do it.

Looks great. How eactly did you mount it? Did you need to fabricate anything or did you just drill mounting holes through existing?

I've been thinking of doing this to my tractor and your post of one of very few I can find of someone doing exactly this. Very nice install and it looks great! I see this post dates back a while. How has it been working out?
Thanks for posting! :thumbsup::)

Very nice clean instal. Short run on the power is a real plus. One suggestion - you have protected the power leads with that corrugated plastic material. Keep a close watch on how hot the power leads are getting. That corrugated material will tend to keep the heat confined to the leads. On a real tough pull you can actually melt the plastic right off the stranded copper wire.

However - your pulls may not be that hard or long. I've alway had series wound WARN winches. On a long, hard pull the winch can get "fry an egg" hot.

Send goldenwings a PM message, as his last post was 7 years ago, but last activity in April '19. That should bring attention to your question.
