front loader and 3 point jerky when raising

i bought this ford compact 1520 with a front end loader last week and the fella told me he had put a new clutch and brakes on it and he didnt mess with the hydrallics,worked good before the repairs and now it has problems lifting both the bucket and the 3 point hitch.i saw where this fella had the same problem back in 2/08 i believe but he never posted the fix. thanx for any help. this is my first tractor.

Sounds like low hydraulic fluid to me . I would check that first , with the 3 point & the loader all the way down. Best of luck & welcome . Bob

Check for air in the suction side to the pump... foamy hydraulic fluid will act like low fluid. KennyV.

My FarmTrac 535 acted like yours for a while before the hydraulics stopped working completely. The intake line to my pump has an external spin-on filter, and upstream of this, there is a permanent mesh filter inside the transmission case. This mesh filter was completely stopped up with stuff like vaseline. When I cleaned it up and re-installed, everything worked like new again. Good luck with yours -- might be a similar situation.
