I suspect the soil type makes one or the other better in that particular soil, but they are close enough that there is no practical difference, as the style better in one soil is not enough better to pull another shank.

Bruce, I agree with you. The rear angled shank is very similar to a parabolic. Now if that same angled shank was set vertical as in some applications then it's a different story.

In the link I provided it tells a little about the different types of shanks and their applications although they don't mention the rear angled shank.
