Freeze Plug Heater Location

I have a new freeze plug heater for my TU 1700. Would like to know which plug to knock out and use? Also which way does the element need to point?

Just a best guess since we don't use them...

freeze plug in the middle of the block.
pointing up if possible. there is more water above the plugs in the block.
