Gents,

I found these together while cleaning out a small outbuilding.

The cyclinder has only one hose, and the other must be a pump because it has heavy electrical wires, and there is fluid sloshing around inside it also.

The square tip shovel is for size referece. I'm struggling with a hyd piston with only one hose. Whats up with that? does it bleed down?

Regardless, is this scrap metal or is this hidden treasure an I should save it to build a ________ ?

Thanks in advance!
Be well,
David

Looks like an electric hydraulic pump and a single action cylinder. I've seen this arrangement for lifting a snowplow. Power up, gravity down.

Single action cyl with a DC driven pump. Maybe 12v or 24 v . Tank on other end.

First thing that came to mind was a single acting lift plow cylinder with 12 volt hydraulic pump. If it were me I'd save it but I also save exhausts I find beside the road so I am a little crazy.

Edit: Wow! looks like we all posted at the same time with the same answer.

My vote is a set up for a tailgate lift gate

BCP, J_J, Looknlearn,

WOW You TBN'ers are amazing!

So I clarify my question. Is this a "put it on Craigslist for $25" item or is it a "put it in the scrap metal pile" item?

If I get a snow plow I will put it on the FEL and I have 3rd function WR Long electric valve for my grapple now, so...

AmI being dense? Is there something cool I can build with it (once I get a welder etc.?

Thanks again to all three of you.

Like on a tow truck? I also found a heavy chain (~6' long) with a big hook on one end that a buddy said was for an old fashioned tow truck.

Thanks,
David

This lift gate pic on the back of a truck is I think what he is talking about. It does look just like one of those cylinders as well.
