Has anyone come across this issue or know what could be causing it?

When operating and I release the forward transmission pedal, it doesn't snap back right away.
Sometimes it comes all the way back up in about a second, sometimes it takes two seconds or more.
As it come up it is still providing a little bit of forward drive.

It's not much of an issue when moving a distance, but when going back and forth moving dirt or something like that it is a pain because I end u steping on the reverse pedal before the transmission has stopped the forward drive motion, and it creates a bit of a jerk to a stop.
To compensate, I tend to ride the brake.

It only seems to do this when the tractor is running.

When the tractor is off, the pedal snaps right back normally, so it's not the spring or anything getting hung up in the pedal mechanism

The only thing I can think of is that maybe the cruise control may be involved in some way. But I really have no clue.

I’d check the following,

1) Turn on the ignition (don’t start the tractor) and depress the forward pedal and turn on Cruise Control. This will fix/hold the pedal in place.

When you turn off the ignition the pedal should return to its original position. If I doesn’t the CC magnet should be adjusted away from the throttle pedal a bit.

2) Check and lubricate the forward & reverse pedal linkage points.

3) Check the forward & reverse pedal spring tension.

After investigating, it does not seem to be related to the cruise control.

I lubed everything, and it did not really help.

There was very little room remaining on the return spring bolt, approximately a quarter of an inch.

I took up all the slack, and it helped, but it still returns a little slowly.

FYI, you can loosen the plate that mounts the rod that holds the other end of the spring, and then move it a little to take up another quarter of an inch or so of slack. I did this then backed off the bolt a little and it is better now. Thank you for your response and advice.

I am curious, however, as to why it started behaving like this. With the spring that tight and the tractor only having around 55 hours on it, I'm not sure why it started doing this.

Can the type/grade of hydraulic fluid affect the return? I noticed the problem more after the 50-hour service.
