The only time I seen a forest "fail", was when it was f'ed up by people before hand.

Seems there's a whole profession of "forestry management" that would be unnecessary, given those views...

IMO, properly managing a wooded tract can make it healthier, more productive, and also look better. That doesn't mean it must look like a park -- but it does mean that it is being selectively managed, just as you must thin plants in a garden to maintain the health of the plants and get the desired production from them...

I agree that when it comes to nature perfection is irrelevant, but it sometimes needs attention for circumstances caused by development. As contiguous properties are "improved," the wooded portions are changed and if neglected they will suffer. In my neighborhood the wooded areas are often the depository of change. Discharge, piles of brush, etc. I also believe we can enhanced wooded areas.
