Ford Super Duty 6.2L Mileage?

if you're wanting a 6.2 engine in a 3/4 or 1ton truck you'll have to be a Ford man all the way. GM offers the 6.2 but in a 1/2 ton configuration. they won't be adding the 6.2 in the HD's until 2013 i believe. i drive a GMC but if i had to choose between the Ford 6.2 and the GM 6.0(current gasser in the HD's) i'd go Ford all the way.

A few weeks ago a coworker and I went from south Texas to Williston N Dakota and back, round trip 3650 miles in 56 hours. Truck averaged 14.3 or so, not bad considering it was a fast trip.
I have used the truck on another trip with cruise set at 70 and averaged in the high 16's, that was a 100 mile hwy trip. I used it to pull a 89 F350 crewcab back on a trailer and got hi 11's/low 12's mpg.
This F250 is used as a delivery truck and has different people driving, I have been checking the MPG on the computor off and on over the last several weeks and it seems to average 14-15.5, thats a combo of city stops and hwy.
I have always been a diesel guy, but this 6.2 has me wanting one.

Any longer-term updates of gas mileage and reliability? I am also considering either the Ford or GM gas engines in a 3/4T.

I've put 8k miles on a 2014 F250 Supercab 4x4/6.2 I bought 4/14. Haven't done a lot of highway with it yet. Local state/county highways & small city driving it does 11.5 - 13.
In a few weeks I'll be taking it on a Florida trip, hauling a 7x18 enclosed trailer with a couple Harleys, luggage, etc. Will see what it does then. Can't be any worse than the 2013 F150 SC/4x4/5.0 that I hauled a 7x14 enclosed with bikes last year. 8.5 MPG both ways. I was so pissed at that truck that I traded as soon as I got home. Figured if I was going to get 3/4 ton mileage, might as well have a 3/4 ton truck.

I have a 2011 with about 40,000 on it now empty 14-15 regular driving 15-16 on long trip 8.5 towing travel trailer to smokey mtns and to myrtle beach there are some tough hills on that trip!! 10-11 nomal towing hauling cattle,equipment etc.seems to get at least 1mpg better on summer blend gas mine does have 373 gears wish I had got the 430

By brother in law recently bought a 2012 GM 2500HD with the 6.0 and 3.73 gears. He gets about 11-12 around town, and 14-15 highway. I believe he got in the 8-9 range towing their 9-10,000lb (not sure exact weight) 5th wheel.

I have a 2015 F250 4WD 6.2 with 3.73 gear. Most of my driving is around town with the occasional road trip or tractor haul. I'm getting around 13.5 mpg.

I owned and sold my 2011 F250 with the 6.2 gasser.Nice truck that got around 14 mpg. city/highway driving.Sold it with 14,000 miles on the OD.Went back to a F150 for my towing needs.

Good pint: I just looked it up while i was at the dealer yesterday: A 157" wheel base Super crew cab with a 6.5" bed 2015 F150 heavy half with 3.55 gearing and a 3.5L ecoboost has a tow rating of 11,700 pounds a payload rating of 2700 pounds.

Thanks JJZ. I agree. May as well have a truck that can do it all with ease. And I certainly do not need a 1 ton nor the maintenance of a diesel. Your truck selection is #1 on my list with the Ford's increased tow rating over the GM 6.0, with the GM as an alternate.
