Cannot wait for her Suburban to have brakeline failure and I sure it will as it has uncoated steel brakelines.

Far as AC is concerned, I believe it states in the owners manual to cycle the AC every 90 days winter and summer. My 1997 F350 7.3 has never had any leaks what so ever and the AC always blows cold (never been recharged either).
Based on my experience, that seems to work.

Of course, I hardly ever use the A/C on my 2007 Toyota and have never had trouble with it either. It's 91 today, so I was using it and it still blows cold.

I try to tell people to avoid the COVID trucks. As soon as the gub’ment started shutting everything down, these automakers had to scramble for parts. Parts quality went into the trash. Engineering and design wasn’t far behind. Then they had the disaster with finding good labor when the union started to whine and complain. All of it turned domestic vehicles into a train wreck. I have no desire to own a truck or car built after March 2020.
Neither do I. Wife bought an off lease 2024 Suburban LTZ and I agree, the overall quality as well as fitment of parts is lacking. What I find amazing is what the ask for new vehicles today. Is it flat out greed or are the consuming public that stupid? Least the Burb my wife bought has the smaller V8 and not the issue prone larger V8 and the one she bought I was able to delete (tnanks to Holley Performance) the 4-6-8 cylinder BS. The non deleted engins burn oil and develop lifter noise as well. He's runs as a V8 all the time and uses no oil and is quiet as a mouse. I believe GM did that solely to meet CAFE standards.

Terrible design and causes premature engine failure. Like the stop start on Fords. Another terribe design done just to meet CAFE standards.

I'd play hell getting the 97's AC recharged anyway as it uses the now illegal R11 refrigerant. I understand however, I can use ultra filtered propane instead.

I passed a Superduty pulling a really nice 5th wheel camper on the interstate this morning. I confess I gave him way more room than normally needed before pulling back into the travel lane.

Unless I missed something, it seems like Ram is the only full sized truck which hasn't been reft with problems in the last 6 years or so.
Ram (Stellantis) would be the bottom of the brands that I would ever consider.

In as much as I worked for and retired from the largest 2nd tier supplier of (under sheet metal) components for Jeep, Diamler-Chrysler and now whatever it's called company, I second your observation.

The had no quality expectations for steel components other than price. I remember selling them Russian steel we bought by the boatload that no one wanted but they bought it. Master coils came in with literally holes in the steel and coils secured with wire instead of bands. In fact we got almost as much per ton as scrap as they were paying and we scrapped hundreds of tons of it and I presume from the scrap yard it went to China. Nasty stuff that met no certifications, but they bought it anyway.

I remember selling them flat rolled heavy gage Russian steel they roll formed into rear axle housings and a lot of it had severe laminations in it that caused the axle tubes to weep gear oil. They didn't care as it was cheap.

I can talk about it now that I no longer work there, I guess.

I have no issue with their diesel engines (Cummins) or their transmissions (Asian), but the rest of it... well, I'll let you decide.

Now, if they paired an Allison with the Cummins or Fords paired the cummins/Allison, I'm good with that.

Don't care much for the new Ford Diesels or their transmissions either and the Duramax was good when it was built by the Japanese, not sure about the new ones.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make em drink. 😁

I used to say that, too. Then I bought a Ram and boy was my mind changed. A couple of my fordie buddies have switched to GM & Ram and seem to be much happier. With all the ford recalls and failed transmissions and previous failed 6L and 6.4L ford diesels, ford would have to blow me away for me to buy another.

I suffered through (3) 6.4L ford diesels…….what a failure those motors were, but the 5.9/6.7 Cummins have been a huge success.

Once Fords divoriced themselves from Navistar, things went downhill.

I felt that way when they were Dodge, especially after owning 2 Dakotas.
Yet as I said before, now they seem to have the least problems of anything out there.
