Ford 5000 Lift issue after rebuild

Update on 10/8/25
I replaced the oring with one from my SAE Orion set. It seemed to fit pretty well. I really had tp wrestle with the top cover to get it back on. I dont have any concrete so I use deck boards on the ground between the rear tires to roll the hoisting around. Its an imperfect system. I also struggled with the hoisting aspect, getting the chain even lifting right? It always comes off easier than it goes back on lol. I tore my gasket, but still set it down and used a few punches as guides to set it on the o ring. This would be much easier with a second person. After I set it down I only put a few of the bolts in because I knew I would be taking it off again to put on the new gasket. I did not attach the top lift/ram arms to the bottom lift arms. That was a bit short sighted on my part. I fired it up and the top lift arms went straight up! They didnt come down but they had nothing to pull them down. I pulled the selector to make sure the rear remotes had flow. I hit the lever and heard the pump start working. Stupidly, I didnt think about the end of the remotes having fittings on them. So I didnt depress the pin inside and dead headed the pump. Then the o-ring tried to launch into outerspace. Oil shot out of the empty bolt hole beside where the oring goes. Im still taking this as win. I have another top cover gasket and o ring. My only concern is that the lift arms didnt go down. Once I turned the tractor off I started pushing them down and they went as far down as the lever was set. So if I pushed really hard on them they would go down and stop. I would move the lever down more and they would go down more. I could hear fluid emptying into the sump when I did this. Since the cover is comming off yet again, I just want to make sure thats normal and I dont need to go ahead and plan on adjusting any of my controls. Tbh, I'm not really sure how to adjust them. Attached picture of where the fluid shot out, more for your amusement than anything.
Haven’t been into the backside of my 5000, but based on what you’re describing it sounds like there’s a pressure relief somewheres that’s not functioning correctly.

My 3 point will lower with just the handle- I think that if you have to stand on it to let it down, pressure isn’t moving the way it should.

I wish I was more help- I really don’t understand the first thing about how those top covers work, lol.

I got it fixed tonight! I put a new oring in and gasket. Put it back together, no dice. Didn't seem to have any pressure on the remotes or the lift. Took tbe cover back, off. (Luckily my cousin came by to work the lift and be a second set of eyes/brains) and the pump was slow/weak churning oil. I out my finger over it and it was pushing back for almost no pressure. Cranked it over a few times like that and it came blasting out! I guess the pump lost prime when I blew that oring? I did drain the oil out because i dropped a bolt in the sump but I didnt run the tractor. 🤷‍♂️ anyway, its working now! Its a little slow but it is strong. It isn't getting stuck up ir anything. Im gonna out fresh oil and run it for awhile and see what happens

Gah! I changes the oil and it looks like the pump isn't working again. I opened up the test port on the top and it will pump up abd then loose prime. I did put some air into the port just to see ans the 3 point shot up and held as long as I would give it air. Im thinking ive killed this pump somehow.

Maybe HUTC. Remember an unprimed pump doesn’t pump.
