Thanks for hookin him up with the pic Happy!! I'm at the farm now and just remembered the pic ordeal. Thought I'd check TBN to make sure I got the pic he needed. That's exactly what I would have taken. :)

No problem!

Good eye, I checked it out tonight, valve stem had a slow and I'm guessing intermittent leak that had probably gone on for a while. The tool end of the cap had rotted off and the calcium chloride must have occasionally leaked out through the hole, it was dry on inspection. I pulled the removable core, wire brushed everything and replaced the core assembly. Rim had rust scale on the outside around the stem, but seems solid after I got the scale off. Glad you noticed it!! That's the beauty of this forum and sharing!!
View attachment 462948 The culprit

Having bought several older tractors I am quite attuned to the CaCl problem.
It would be a good idea if you make a plan to have your rear tires removed from the rims for inspection.
Your rims have likely had at least 26 years for that CaCl to do it's destructive work on them.
I think you will find that the rust is quite severe all around the outer edge of that particular rim.
My suggestion would be to sand blast the inside of both rims, and then apply two coats of two part epoxy paint.
If you don't like that idea, just save up some money, because in 3-5 more years you will likely be buying new rims.
Whatever you do, I would get that **** CaCl out of there.
I would also suggest replacing the tubes (about $45 each).
I have found windshield washer fluid to be the most economical freeze proof tire ballast.
Last fall I picked up 80 gallons of windshield washer fluid at the Home Depot in Hyannis.
$1.50 /gal. including tax. That was a good deal for the Cape (Probably the same in Wareham, or Plymouth).
"Rimguard" is the best, and you can get that in Carver, but it is VERY expensive, and they will charge you PLENTY to put it in ($430 total for 2 - 13.6 x 24 tires)
You can put windshield washer fluid in yourself, with a $10 fill attachment from TSC.
What are you using for tire ballast in all your other tractors? (nice collection !!!)

Man is this thing nasty. Any advice on how to best clean this up would be much appreciated! Not sure if this is from the draft tube or just a leaky valve cover gasket. Also, are the exhaust manifolds reversible? I'm thinking about going to a hood exit exhaust as I like the sound better. I also think the exhaust is too restrictive with the current setup.

I used Simple Green and a water hose to clean the valley of my 7.3, but would like to know what everyone else on here prefers

My 4610 has the exhaust out the back, as does my 5610. The other tractors are all through the hood. One benefit for me with the horizontal exhaust is I don't have to worry about bending exhaust pipes mowing along the walls.

My 3910 came with factory vertical exhaust. I changed it to horizontal. No, the manifold isn't reversible. I bought a new manifold, then built the pipe and used the original vertical muffler. I'm in the timber a lot and couldn't deal with tree limbs catching on the vertical pipe.

Those tree limbs can get expensive

Me too. Now that you mention it, I would most likely regret converting it to verticle.

So I got a call from the place I ordered all of my 3 pt hitch parts today. They said that it was going to be a couple weeks before they could get the top link bracket in, so they went ahead and gave me a free used one. In other words, they didn't charge me for the stabilizer brackets and u-bolts that I asked to add to my order. It was the same price as the new top link that I ordered. Hopefully it is in serviceable condition when it shows up. If that's the case then these guys are good to go and will order from them again. They also called me every couple of days to give me a status update on everything and they were very nice to talk to. They shipped everything today, so it should be here before the weekend. Can't wait to get everything hooked up and put this thing to work. Will post photos of everything when it comes in.

I should be able to get some hot water to my pressure washer. Thanks for the advice. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I am sure that regular domestic hot water through your pressure washer may help.
In my case, I have a 40 year old "Hotsy" brand kerosene fired 1000 psi pressure washer.
I bought it used many years ago, and then rebuilt it years later.
The difference that hot water (195F) makes, with only 1000 psi is amazing!
I have a 4500 psi cold water washer, and on grease, and grime, the 1000 psi Hotsy does a better job (with a degreaser/soap).

Thanks for the insight. Might have to see if I can pick up a used hotsy sprayer. Otoh, I have been thinking about replacing my hot water heater with a tank less unit. I need to see what the maximum water temp is. That might be the next best thing to a hotsy.

I should have my 3 pt hitch parts tomorrow. Starting to check out grills and nose cones. What is everyone's opinions on the grills with the lights in them? Trying to decide which version to get.

I'd want whatever came on it.

It's got the holes for the side mount. I guess the grill mount were offered on the overseas tractors. I'll just stick with the original location. It comes out to be cheaper to do it that way too.

Mine had the headlights mounted on top of the nose cone. I moved them to the sides of the grill housing.

Got my parts today. :) So far everything looks great! The top link bracket looked like new and was real tight. I can't wait to get everything installed. Everything is so much more stout compared to the stuff on my 2600. This thing is going to be a real workhorse when I get it done.
