Hi All,
I'm replacing my bad original Ford 3600 (gas) radiator with an aftermarket radiator. Is there an attachment point/bracket at the top of the radiator somewhere? There are two large bolts on the bottom radiator frame but there is nothing holding the top of mine. I can move the top of the radiator back and forth an inch or so without too much difficulty (with the cowl on, hoses attached, and full of water). It's hard to believe that this is normal or that it will last. Any ideas? Maybe there was a top mounting bracket that has been discarded at some point?
A couple of things about replacement radiators that I've found: The cheap ones in the $200 price range will do the job (for a time) but are pretty flimsy junk. I'll probably get a new core put in my original radiator and put it back on at some point. Also, the fan shroud mounting holes (three per side) on the replacement radiators are too high. The fan will hit the fan shroud (exciting - sparks, noise, etc.) unless you drill new holes in the shroud and mount it lower on the new radiator. You can only mount one side of the shroud lower as the other side hits the radiator outlet pipe.
(I did a search "Ford 3600 Radiator" and "Ford 3000 Radiator" (without quotes) and couldn't find it. Please let me know if it's an existing thread.)
