ford 3000 fuel problem

I have a ford 3000 tractor, wasn't used during the winter. I started it early spring. the fuel pump was leaking gas from the weep hole on side of fuel pump. I ordered new pump, installed it. the pump is pumping to much fuel to the carburetor. The tractor was running very good with the old pump on it. Has anyone had a problem like this. I am new to the forum, so I hope I posted this correctly. Thanks, Zeke

Sounds like the carb float or needle valve is stuck open. Might be able to clean and reuse but a carb kit is probably cheap enough. Make sure to clean all the parts so it doesn't gum up again.

Thanks, for the information. I have replaced the needle valve, and adjusted the carb float, everything seems to be in working order. I put a fuel gauge on the fuel line coming from the fuel pump. The fuel pressure just kept building up, until I released the pressure. I really cannot understand the problem. I am not a mechanic, but I have a lot of common sense on how to repair my on things when need be. I guess the new pump is pumping to much fuel to carb. I don't suppose there is any kind of adjustment from cam lobe to pump. If someone can figure this out I would really appreciate the info. Thanks, zeke1

I can not answer your question, but I would try a second new fuel pump to isolate the problem to either the pump or the carb.

The fuel pumps seem to be relatively inexpensive:

Also, you did not mention whether the old pump worked at all. If it did work in spite of the leak, I would reinstall and see if it still works will your carb adjustments.
