I wear a respirator the entire time I'm in the garage because I switch back and forth between cutting, grinding, and welding. It exhausts out the bottom, so nothing fogs.... keeps the black boogers away too! : )

Those are good respirators that you posted pic of... issued at shipyards, and I also use at home.

Ya, that's an old SCUBA diving trick. Way old, like the 50s.!!! May have even come from the hard hat days, not sure.

Pancakes are for right handed or for left handed. They are flat front and bent to cover one ear. Glass is in a face plate ( like goggles) only goes around eyes, must be fitted to face. Does not flip at all. Lift off eyes or put on eyes. Sarge is another one.

Years ago I remember the welder I was working with makingnhis own from a pair of welding goggles and some cardboard and duck tape. Had a weld in a tight spot close to a wall so he put a #10 lens in those gas welding goggles and cut some cardboard to shield his face. Worked well for the couple joints he had to make but wouldn't hold up too long. Still, in a pinch it worked and cost was near zero.

Well I never welded but the trick I've learned over the 30+ years of wearing prescription eyeglasses is shaving cream. The regular white foaming type like Barbarsol is what I clean my glasses with every morning and I generally never have a frosting/fogging problem year round.

Also to be used on your bathroom mirror so it doesn't steam up. :thumbsup:

I used a piece of short hose in my mouth. Let it hang out below helmet. Breathe in your nose. Blow out your mouth. No fogging.
