Moss - I remember a flying car back in the early 70's and I believe it made a flight or two..Do you remember that one ? and if so what ever happened to it ?

This one is pretty neat....If they brought the price down with production to just under $100K they would sell a lot of them.

Oh boy! I can see it now. Walmarts with landin' strips...maybe not.

Do they have one with a towing package?;)

Actually, Sam Walton would probably have loved this since he was an accomplished and regular flyer.:)

Yeah, or the fly through at McDonald's..........or maybe everyone would like to go to and see a fly in movie. The possibilities are endless:D

There have been several flying cars before. However, most of them had detachable wings and were quite cumbersome. This one is pretty slick. I hope that company takes off (pun intended).

The "landing gear" is so short, it looks like it would be extremely hard to land in a crosswind without dinging a wingtip or the tail.

I noticed a bungee cord on the steering wheel during flight, maybe to make sure it stayed centered so as not to be veering off the runway during landing if it was accidentally turned during flight.

Still, cool stuff.

Cool, but as a private pilot, landing on all fours would take some getting used to. I also agree that a cross wind over 15 knots would make a landing pretty gnarly.

But if this is the first step....

I don't think moller has ever done any more than necessary to secure his next federal government development grant... To complex a concept to be safe and affordable anyway.

Flying cars have been around for quite some time. As mentioned, they usually disconnect from their wings for highway use. All suffer from the same basic issues. Too limited a customer base. Too high a cost. Not a real practical airplane(too much excess weight not needed strictly for flight), and not a real practical car, too many compromises in the design to allow it to fly. It is hard to get the drivetrain robust enough to drive it reliably and still be able to drive a prop and fly with the weight limits involved. For the price you can get a better performing plane and a better more practical car, and still have plenty left over to rent a good car wherever you fly. I don't ever see it ever being any more than a really cool novelty.

No silly. It's so you can text message with both hands.:)

So it flys, that's nice. Where are you going to drive it to when on the ground? Can you see shopping malls and the local Wally world putting in special "flying car" parking areas, to protect them from the soccer moms in their Toyota Siennas from "parking lot incursions" Even a minor sideswipe on those folded-up wings would ruin your day.

Hey, at least up in the air, lets see a cop get you for not wearing your seatbelt:D

ROFLMAO.

while true, lets see you not crash the darn thing when you hit your first light turbulence not wearing a seatbelt...

I want to see the first police chase with one. I also want to see the look on an insurance adjustors face when a parking lot ding costs 50 grand to fix!
