What engine, hydraulic, power steering, antifreeze types/brands do you use? I am almost at the 50 hr pt and am going to change most if not all. The recommended fluids for transmission/hydraulics and power steering are not available in my area. My dealer stocks/uses another brand at a great price ($23.00 for 5 gal on the transmission/hyd oil). For the power steering, many of the recommended fluids in the manual appear to be automatic transmission fluid (is that right?). Will the Walmart brand of Dexron/Mercon III work fine for power steering? Or can I use the same fluid in the power steering that goes in the transmission/hydraulics?
So far, I have had a couple of hyd leaks under the tractor. I am clearing property and could have been caused by that. None of them were bent but they couldn't be tightened to stop leak (drips). Dealer has it now and will put different hose on bottom--will see if that helps. Also, bent a hyd cylinder (extension) due to pulling something w/backhoe--definitely not recommended. Good news on that is the replacement was only about $400 (dealer cost--will see what I get charged)--I thought it would be much worse.
A lot of fun but I hope my learning is much less expensive in the future.
