OK , can I get a corrrect valve from Surplus ? It would still be cheaper to throw this one away than to get one at Kubota as they are in the $300. bracket?

just curious...why did you replace the valve in the first place? (rather than just adding a detent)...was there a problem with it?...

The valve had a brolen shaft and the end was covered up with some "goop" by the previous owner to hide the problem. I'm new to this tractor and didn't know better.

OK one last question (I hope) If I turn the valve sideways the detent will still be in the same position so I won't have float anyway , right? If I move the handle around there is only one detent position and routing the hoses the way I have them now will only give me regen and no float. Where am I wrong?

I sure thought I had posted the correct hook up and mount in the link to Brand .

Mount the valve to the base plate as depicted, which is on the right, and all the controls will be correct.

You can use that valve by making or having made a right angle bracket to bolt on top of your existing bracket so the valve will be mounted with the hoses to the left or right side, according to how much room you have. Then buy some SAE 8 ORB to JIC 6 male flare 90deg adapters or perhaps 45deg adapters so the hoses point to the front, and you will be just right.

Farmer, I changed the hoses but the rain was pretty heavy and I don't really know if the float position works. The way I have it hooked up is how JJ showed me to do it and I did run the tractor a little but hav eto spend more time when its nicer out. Changing the mounting bracket isn't a problem as i have all equipment to do it. Haven't had this much problems with my Case 580h but then mostly cylinder rebuilds etc. Time will tell. BUT, thanks to all who have helped and sorry to JJ who I seemed to piss off a little.

JJ Sorry I didn't grasp what you were saying the first time, I am new to hydraulics operation and even some of the technical words threw me. My biggest problem was and is understanding how the float position works. When the valve is put in float you stated that everything becomes neutral in that oil is allowed to just flow through the valving and into the reserve tank. Not in those words but that is how I took it . So if that is the case why did the oil flow into the loader cylinder to raise it? Thats where I'm confused. I want everyone to know how much I appreciate thehelp I received here as I would never have figured this out by myself. So , Thanks to all! ~Nels

Crossed hoses will do weird things.

Excerpt:

In the float position the work ports are open to the return (this will allow a cylinder to drift or “float”) and the oil goes to next spool or power beyond.

Thanks for clarifying that , I was under the impression that whichever way the hoses were hooked up when engaging float the oil would just go to reserve , now I understand. Thank again ~Nels

Got to try it out today .Outside of the handle being off 90deg. as JJ stated it works fine. I've ordered new fittings and will mount the valve body correctly.
