Flat Tow Backhoe -- no trailer

I recently purchased an old Case 310B backhoe, it is basically a tractor with a loader and backhoe, it weighs in about 9000 lbs. It has the big 24" tractor tires. I'm wondering if I can flat-tow it, i.e. let it roll on its wheels when I tow it. I'd go slow. It is a bit far to drive it, about 75 miles, at 10mph that would take 7.5 hours. I'm thinking 30-40mph, so only 2-3 hours..

Can the tractor tires/wheels/transmission handle going that fast?

Alternatively, can it be towed by a wrecker tow-truck, i.e. with the big rear wheels on the ground, same kind of issue if it can handle the speed.

First off I would check the laws in your state and county before I would try that, since tractors are not to be driven at speeds of 30 to 40MPH, i would not think it to be safe or even legal, get a hold of some one to transport it and be on the safe side you could definatlly, hurt yourself or some one else or even worst.

I bet an equiptment rental place nearby has a trailer you could rent cheap!

I think the tires are not meant to go that fast, I think they are low speed tires and might tear apart.

a wrecker lifts the back of a car and lets the front wheels roll, sometimes they put dollies on the front wheels. This is a flatbed tow truck, can one of these be used to carry a 4.5 ton backhoe? i'd think its too much wt?

not so cheap, haven't found one that handles 10 tons. a place will transport with their driver and equipment at $400 for the trip.

At that expense, I'm looking into buying a old flatbed truck, or even more crafty is buy a cheap clapped-out Class C RV and convert it to flatbed.
They practically will pay you to take away old clapped out big RVs!

No way in **** I would tow it. You will lose a tire, bearing, ect. Also, you would be towing that type of weight with no brakes. I would drive it before I towed it. If it only weighs 9,000# borrow a 14,000# equipment trailer and you will be good to go or a HD Roll Back Wrecker can do it easily. I have a friend that has a towing company and they put things as large as a RV on them.

9000lbs is under 5 tons, not sure where you get the 10 ton figure

It's not only the tires that won't survive the trip, buy the drivtrain may not either...$400 seems like a fair price to me.
