flat tires broken valve stem

I got some tractor time this week end after fixing a flat on a rear tire on my BX23 the valve stem was sheared off.

I had a spare but it was my last one put that in set the bead and aired it up back tractoring.

i was looking on line for new stems and came across these metal ones

They are for motor cycles but they got me thinking of trying them on my tractor tires. so they don't stick out too far and get ripped off.

I have seen where they take a pipe and cut it to length of the valve stem and cut a slit in the side, the slit is so you can get your air chuck on the valve stem. Then place it over the valve stem and weld it to the rim. Keeps anything from breaking them off. I plan on doing this when I replace the tires on mine.

I am using the short steel racing valve stems for automotive uses. The rubber type were leaking and breaking. There are large metal tractor stems available from several sources.Plz,read on this forum about dangers of welding on any wheels, and or tire explosions..2 cents, Jy.

I think I am one of those posters about welding on rims with the tires on.

I was also thinking of moving the holes in away from the edge or putting a pipe around them (welding it on with the tire off the rim of course)
