Tires Flat tire

My neighbor the experienced orchardist looked at my YM240 with the oversize, filled rear tires and said deflate until you see a minor bulge standing still. This makes a larger, more flexible footprint to improve traction.

This got me down below 10 psi. He said don't worry about going that low, it's just right for this application, and 7+ psi is sufficient to keep the tire from slipping relative to the rim.

For the front tires with the loader, I run 35 psi. My neighbor says he uses HD trailer tires for the front in his loader applications and they last much better than ag tires.

yep.. judging a tire by it's profile is how most of us that have been around tractors long enough do it... saves having to carry a tire gauge with you.. or getting it wet on loaded tires.. :)

I did have a tire man tell me one time that many times when you see a tire with cracks it is due to over inflation.

i run 20 PSI in the rears and 45 in the fronts. otherwise they look flat when picking up something in the loader.

I run 15psi like i said in my rears and i think i run like 30psi in front. Manual says 28, but i just went to 30 to make it easier. I also have a slow leak in one or both i think so its not gonna stay there all year anyway. I have a time with thorns and stuff in those fronts. Glad i have not had it in the backs, knowck on wood!! i do have about 180ish pounds of front weight on the bumper though and untill recent they were down around 10psi or so. When i bound it down on the trailer they looked half flat (these are the fronts).

This brings up a good point, When having a 700+ lb. FEL on a tractor, this is sure to have some effect on the stance of the tires, I'm not exactly sure how the FEL weight is distributed across front to rear of the tractor, But I know the majority of it is on the front and I must run run 35 lbs. in the front tires, and even at this air pressure once the bucket is loaded the tires will smile a bit, although I'm afraid to run any more than this because after all they're only 4/ply tires, ...........I know much of the loaders weight is resting on its Sub-frame, Bumper and mid mounts, I just wouldn't know how much is actually at the rear tires....But if any at all I'm sure would effect the necessary required air pressure for them, my tractor also has a 150 lbs Heavy duty ROPE on it , Wouldn't this also contributes to the required tire inflation? ....
I would think when having a CUT size tractor many things would have to be considered in order to use a average air pressure, of course the starting point would be from the factory spec weight it self of the tractor, as well as the tire manufacture requirement air pressure,
one would have to find an equal acceptable margin between the two, so the question is! how do we do this?

I also run 35 in my front tires for the loader and my rears are about 10-12 somewhere around there. I have big wide tires and a light tractor so dont need much air in rears.

Deep those front car tires im sure are no where near the weight limit on them? What you you think? I bet there something in the 1200lbs per tire range, giving your front axle a weight capacity of 2000+ lbs. Your tractor minus weights is in the 1600lb range even if you say FEL is 700lb and your lifting 500lb of dirt or rock your still only in the 2900lb range with your rope, and you have to remember there is a good bit of weight on the back of it as well.
