Around here the Les Schwab tire shops will fix flats for free. Not just on tires they sold, but any tire. Brings in lots of new business I suppose.

Our neighbor has in-laws who run a competitive tire shop, so I usually go there & pay $10, just to give them some business.

I don't see how I could ever save enough money to justify building even the most primitive tool to do the job...


For me it is usually about being able to keep going and get the job done, rather then stopping and being at the mercy of someone else's priorities.

That, and I can change and balance them in usually about the time it would take me to get too the tire shop :D

And in the FWIW, for about $100 in tools you can do the big tires, and about $100 - $150 you can do the automotive tires.

For me at least at $10 per repair, that would be about 2 weeks worth in spring time. :(
