Flail Mower on a Toolcat 5600

I recently bought a Flail mower (GIYI model GY-FM57) "Y' Blades. Hooked it up, roller adjusted and I have a question for one of you experts out there that knows way more than I do. Regardless of what I do it will not Mow ANYTHING. Tried Short grass, tall Grass, Low Speed, High Speed Nothing. Blades spinning Ok Just not cutting at all. What am I doing wrong? Appreciate all comments and solutions you may have. Thanks

I have a wood chipper that I have to reverse the flow by using the trigger and toggle because everything else runs on the default flow direction.

Interesting you mention that. Both my wife And I thought they were not spinning in the proper direction.
If you stand on the right side of the machine looking across the mower the shaft is turning counter clockwise. To us we thought this was wrong.
If it is wrong how do I reverse the flow? Thanks

While holding down the trigger on the back of the joystick, Push the middle toggle control to the right and release the trigger, and the flow should now be reversed -

Thanks, When We initially tried to use the mower The toggle did not seem to do anything when holding to the right and using the trigger underneath the Joy Stick so we used the toggle to the left annhen the trigger under the joy stick and it activated the shadft with the blasdes

We just tired as suggested.
Held the trigger on the back of the joystick
Pushed the middle toggle to the right and released the trigger
It did not change the rotation of the shaft on the mower from counter clockwise to clockwise.

I also tried pushing the middle toggle (only one on my model) on the joystick to to the right and then holding the trigger just in case that might work.

Nothing. There does not seem to be any way to reverse the rotation of the mower shaft.

I know there is nothing wrong with both the left and right toggles as I was just using a grapple bucket and all winter I use a blade plowing so I know both left and right toggles work OK,

Any other suggestions to reverse the spin of the flail mower shaft from counter clockwise to clockwise

What happens if you push and hold the toggle to the left then push the trigger?

I've never been able to reverse the continuous flow on either of my 5600, C and F series. I don't think it's possible on the older ones. The thumb control obviously reverses it, but locking it on with the trigger always flows the same direction.

The GiYi flail has a freewheeling valve across the hydraulic motor, you can't run it backwards unless you also turn the valve around. Are you sure the flails are tuning when it's in the grass? If the flow is reversed you could be getting just enough flow through the motor to cause the blades to spin with no load, but slow down or stall out when loaded. Easiest way to reverse flow is to swap the male/female hydraulic connectors.

A flail mower with Y blades should cut in either direction. Some manufacturers run them forward, some backwards. I have a big Alamo that I use as a brush cutter on my Toolcat, the blades rotate the same direction as the tires moving forward. I also have a boom flail that rotates the same. I do notice that the boom mower cuts better when traveling backwards. But again, they cut grass either way.

I have the same issue with the same GY-FM57 model. I was able reverse direction to move with the wheel direction by reversing the freewheeling valve across the hoses as described above. It didn't help much, if at all.

The flail drum does not seem to spin the blades fast enough to cut. Watching the mower lower onto tall grass at max RPM, it does not cut the blades at all. The motor is a BM5-160, which is spec'd for 460 RPMs. For comparison, the Bobcat flail drum speed is 2000-2200 RPMs. It seems either mine had the wrong motor installed or everyone buying this model will find it ineffective.
