Flail mower for grinding up brush piles

Mine would. I'd probably spread the pile into a 'line' to make it easier to drive over.

I have hammers and they are heavy. Up to 2" brush would be easy.

My Ford 917 will do it but the true 2” chunks likely won’t be shredded.

It'll splinter and spread the wood out more than it will grind it up. At a certain point, you would be better off with a wood chipper or burn it.

What model flail do you have?

I've got a cheap Chinese Nova, but support is great from Jack. Mine is the BCRM, medium duty ditch mower with the hammers, not knives. I don't have a lawn to maintain.

It's not a chipper, but it does 80% of the chipper work in about 5% of the time. I also burn the big stuff.

FWIW, the operator who did some forestry mulching for me said it was harder to grind up material laying on the ground. I watched him obliterate small standing trees in minutes, but he had trouble grinding up the same size material if it was on the ground. He was using a Cat forestry mulcher with carbide teeth and Cat CTL.
