I went to the auction and bought an Alamo SHD88 for $300. All parts appear to be there. I asked the supervisor if these things worked and he said yes and that they just replaced them with new ones. I noticed that the one that I bought was a 2010 model. Some of the mowers were missing parts. I saw a couple were missing the drive and several were missing the rollers.

Now I have to find someone who knows about these things to check it out and see what I need to do to get it up and going. This one had a slip clutch but it was missing the PTO shaft that attaches to the tractor. If everything check out I am going to get it repainted and get new decals for it. If I am lucky and it has no major damage I think I will have made a pretty good deal. These things look like they are made like a tank.

I got a ancient beatup Ford 917 for $100. You got a way better deal as long as the rotor, hood & roller are intact. Everything else can economically be replaced.

I think I gave 160 for my also ancient Mott.
The rear roller end bearings , and idler wheel bearings are the most frequent things I've read of going bad. Due to lack of greasing. And of course the blades. Sounds like you got a great deal!
