The shuttle shifter did not shift smoothly into forward and reverse all the time. Most of the time I would need to release clutch a number of times before before it would move into forward or reverse.

So broke apart tractor to see what I could see. Here are some of the pics.

Removed transmission side cover but the shuttle shifter was still hidden in the mid case. So the mid case had to be removed.

Did you find what was hitting the shorter wider gear? Also are those teeth missing on that inner ring by purpose or broken?

Good luck

Here are some of the issues found.

The reverse gear, both synchronizer rings and the shifter coupling were replaced.

Stuck it all back together and wow, love how the shuttle shifts.

Hope these pictures help someone else.

The shorter wider gear is the reverse gear. It was replaced and the new gear also had those marks on the teeth. I don't know if they serve a purpose?

The teeth on the synchronizer rings are also suppose to be missing. New ones also had those teeth missing.

So what did you have to give for the parts? I am sure it would have been a grand or more in labor on top if you hadn't done it yourself.

The original parts quoted costs were about $500. However; after ordering parts the supplier told me the price of these parts had increased to over $800.

I wasn't going to put this back together without fixing it. So went ahead and bought the parts. Ouch!

damm double ouch, too bad they r such good tractors you could get parts for them all over if they were junkers. That thread about the tree dropped on his bota, it was suggested he part it out, and he probably could get a new tractor, make a little extra money on the deal and give some folks a decent deal all at the same time, would take a while to get it all sold tho.

I looked but couldn't find anyone parting out what I needed. That would have been great.
