First Tractor B2301

Hello everyone, I am getting my first tractor delivered tomorrow! It was a laborious process on trying to decide between the BX25D and the B2301/B2601. I am sure I would have used a backhoe on occasion, but just couldn't convince myself that I would need one on a regular basis. So I took the extra money in the budget and went up one size to the B2301 with a 54" QA FEL, 54" MMM, and a Land Pride P-15 post hole digger. I have a new house on 5 gently sloping acres. I probably would have gone with a rotary cutter except for the fact that I have no place to store it yet. Lots of projects on the calendar this spring, i can hardly wait!

Congrats. I lived in the Black Forest area just south of you for 14 years. Had a Kubota 24HP B-Series on my 5 acres. Worth every single penny every single year I had it. Enjoy.

I think you made the right move opting for the bigger tractor. If you ever have any serious excavating to do, you can always rent a machine to do it. With 5 acres, you better get busy and build something to store your toys in. And my advice is make it bigger than you think you will ever need, cause you will fill it. Good luck with the new machine.

Nice tractor. I checked out the B2301 vs. the JD2025R, and the B2301 won out. However, the tiny dealership Kubota has in Ch'ville doesn't handle the B series, only BX, and I'd been pleased with the very close, local JD dealership. I traded in my lemony JD1025R on the 2025R. The sales person moved the 1025's toolbox to the 2025. I saw where it had even the bolt holes for it and all but doesn't normally come with it (interferes slightly with the top link catch; can only hook the top link on it and not rest it in it).

So far, the 2025R is the best of the 3 4wd tractors I've had so far.

Congratulations on the new addition!

I have its predecessor (B2320), bought used in August of last year, and it's been a great machine, lots of capability but I needed the 4' bucket and boxblade to get into tight places on the property.

You'll enjoy yours, mine's been a joy to operate.

I was trading from a BX1860 and decided on the slight extra power of the B2601 with the 54 in SSQA bucket on the loader, the 54 in MMM, I kept my disc and box blades from the BX that I traded in.. I have not gotten to use it much since I took delivery Nov 20th, just to play in the snow on 1 morning. I believe that several nice design features were added to these new 01 series tractors. 4wd and 3 pt hitch levers are much easier to use with gloves on than its predesesor! Enjoy.

Edit: the best change was to separate the speed range selector for the HST, and the lift lever for the mower/ 3 pt hitch.. I have to confess to putting tractor(bx) in neutral instead of raising the mower. That is a bad suprise on a hill! The service brake and hst pedal were on the same side of the BX!

We do seem to fill up storage. Waiting to see if the wife really has to have a horse or not. Will either build a barn with a couple of stalls or a garage/shop.

Tractor delivered friday. Used it to pull out the stupid builder's sign. He said the ground was too frozen....not!

First two modifications: One useful, the Piranha bar, and one not....Denver Broncos sticker. How convenient that Kubota orange is a perfect match for Bronco orange!

Rhino hide canopy arrived today, and post hole digger arrives friday. I'll snap a picture when I get it put together

Installed the canopy over the weekend. Seems sturdy and functional. It was kind of a pita to get it all to line up and look level from every angle. What should have been a 45 minute project took a couple of hours of fiddling, but that is par for the course for me. Basically however long I think something is going to take, if I triple that guess I am usually pretty close......

Not sure why in this day and age companies can't provide nice high def pictures of each step. Instructions almost always seem vague at best, and any included pictures are almost useless. Brackets would work better bolted through the ROPS instead of the U bolts they provide, although maybe that is an integrity issue or something. Anyway, now that the frustration of getting it installed is over, I do like the finished product. The quick attach system will be convenient when I need to haul the tractor to the dealer. Canopy pops off with two threaded knobs.

There are certainly better looking canopies out there but this product saves a few bucks over the orange versions

Also got my P15 land pride post hole digger delivered with 9" auger. Another month and I can start digging some holes!

You'll never see brackets from any company that require drilling through the ROPS -- that would create a massive legal liability. In general, the ROPS should never be cut, drilled, welded, etc or you void the warranty and create a safety risk. I am sure it can be done, but not without engineering.

Though I am not qualified to give advice, I can confirm what s219 says about ROPS. When looking at new models over the past couple weeks, both K dealers warned me about making ANY permanent mods to the ROPS. One told me that when a machine comes in for service, they check the ROPS and if it has been drilled, cut, or welded, the machine cannot leave the shop until a new ROPS has been installed. They take this safety equipment seriously!

...at least in my neck of the woods. Congratulations on that beautiful B and the spacious spread it will traverse.

Btw, depending on what you are doing, are you planning any counterweight on 3pt when using FEL?
