I did some equipment trading, and a few days ago I became the owner of a 1999 Kubota B2710 HSD with an LA401 front loader, a 5' brush hog, a box blade, and a landscaping rake. The tractor has 494 hours on it, and the fellow I got it from says it had full service and an oil change no more than 50 hours ago at a Kubota dealership.
I've got the manuals for the implements, which I've read thoroughly, but have no manual for the tractor. Two days ago I practiced with the box blade and fixed a bad spot in our driveway (in spite of the frozen ground) - and I LIKE this tractor. It's cold here, I can't go out and mess with the Kubota much, and I HAVEN'T EVEN FOUND ALL OF THE CONTROLS YET.
Switching to this Kubota will be a big change for me, as I have been running two 1952 fully restored and rebuilt Ford 8N's for years. I think the Kubota will be perfect for our 6 acre place, and if I like it as well as I think I will I intend to sell the Fords in the spring.
I already had some of the implements I got with the Kubota, so now I have two box blades, two 5' brush hogs, and two landscaping rakes. I also have a post hole digger, a straight blade and a cement mixer that I'll be using on the Kubota. I'd like to get a garden tiller for it eventually.
So - where do I go from here? I think a manual would be very helpful. Are they available?
With good care and maintenance, can I expect this tractor to last for many years to come? I probably only use a tractor about 5 hours a week on average. How many hours can I expect out of it if I take good care of it? The tires are filled with air - should I get them filled with liquid? I'm in the Ozarks, and I work in some steep places.
Thanks for your help! - Sam
