The notice is based on average hours by customers. The 50 hr service is to clean out dirt and some machining filings left over from manufacturing and assembly.
If you do it yourself be sure and clean the suction screen on the hydraulic tank as well as the filter.

I understand why the 50 hr is done...guessed you missed my point/question....I ONLY have 14 hours....I would think I really should wait till 50 hours to do the service due to break in lubes added when new etc....even though many people have 50 hrs in a yr ,I do not
thx

Yes you should wait till 50 hrs. The dealer sends the notice based on other owners average usage and when they reach 50 hrs. The dealer is trying to get more business.

I am unsure what engine oil type your tractor is shipped with. In the case of my Kubota nothing in the manual refers to "break in" oil being used. So I'd say the first change should be based on hours and/or time.

I'd certainly change the oil if a year goes by, regardless of how many hours you have on the meter.

I run a John Deere road grader. The new machine was shipped with break in oil. The manual specifically talks about that. Says to run the machine to the recommended hour before changing. Also states if additional oil is needed to only add break in oil. So that's how we serviced it.

I have heard about break in oil for years and still don't know what it is. Also have never seen it for sell any place. I think the next time I go to the auto parts store I'm going to ask. I have done major overhauls many times and always used what was to be ran in the engine.

I agree. With that said, I am not about to give the manufacturer a reason to not warrant and engine failure. I diligently added break in oil when needed. I didn't change it out until I had reached the recommended hours on the meter.

I think you would have to go to a manufacturer's parts department to buy break in oil. I had to go to JD dealer.

Do what you feel most comfortable with its your machine. if you want to change your oil filter and not the oil to remove contaminants from break in or machining it doesn't hurt and it's cheap insurance. I changed my filter at 23/24 hours but I changed my oil at 50 along with a new filter

LukeStaford.....Dude,,,I AM relaxed,lol

Yea I called the tech guy at LS after buying and he is the one that told me they put break in lubes in the oil when it is assembled..the cost of the oil and filter is nil...just thought with only 14 hrs on it was a waste...shoot I may not have 50 on it next year either
