JD 3520 eHydro w/300CX FEL
It took me awhile but I finally figured out how to get my pics on here. First pic is the day my JD 3520 arrived on 10/15/10 with the 300 CX FEL and Frontier RB1172 6' blade. The second one shows the Landpride FS 1000 spreader on the 10,000 lb. Diamond C trailer hooked to the Chevy 2500 HD 4x4. The other pics are of my father and his JD 730 that he still uses on the farm just to bush hog mostly but he loves driving it. Speaking of my father he'll be 91 years old March 31st. He's in great shape and still goes with me on lawn/ landscape jobs and could out work most men half his age. I honor him whenever I can because he's such a great man and I'm blessed to still have him with me. We have worked together all my life from the dairy farm to the lawn/landscape business. This was supposed to be a JD thread but since he is in the pics I had to give him his due because he means so much to me. More pics to come as I get attachments.

Good luck with that bad boy! I see you opted for the small R4's.

WOW, that is one beautiful machine. Very popular model with great feedback. Looks like a solid machine. I came close to buying one myself last year. Maybe next year. Hope you enjoy it.

Nice machine, you will find it very powerful. Much more power than the 3320 I used to own. the turbo engine of the 3520 has the 3320 beat in every way. well worth the extra $$$

The R4's are 15-19.5. I don't know if thats big or small its what came on it. The dealer said that was the size that most are outfitted with. Sure not going to change them, they seem to work fine for me.

Small r4's ?? look at the contact area of those tires SWEET!!!!
your dealer is totally correct that is the most popular and the correct tire for that machine. BIG FAT SWEET R4's

I remember when mine was that pretty. My 3520 is 6 years old this spring and 725 hours now and has never let me down.

Nice unit, LHS!

I have a 2005 3520 with 500 hours on it that I bought used a couple months ago. It has been a great machine so far.

Question for you:

What is the tread thickness of the front and rear Galaxy tires on your tractor?

I have the same tires on mine, and I'm just wondering how much wear they have on them compared to new tires.

Thanks,

Spindifferent

I opted for the 3320 because of fuel economy and no turbo. "Every way"? No, just more HP, they're both the same tractor. Yes, those are the small R4's, Deere has two R4 tires for that tractor, neither is 'correct'.

I'll have to check on it and get back to you. From what I've read the R4's wear like iron.

Yes, I'm loving this tractor more all the time. Many thanks to you and all the others who posted kind remarks.

Small R4's is not a criticism it's an observation! Both tires are fine.

Where do I find the fuel economy ratings for the 3520 vs the 3320 ? My dealer told me that my new 3520 would be better on fuel. I though since 3530 was more hp it would work less to do the same as the small 3320, then save fuel ? Turbos are better right ? I mean they cost more so it should be better.

ROB, I just found the fuel ratings, yes the 3320 only uses 2.0 gal an hour and the 3530 uses 2.4 gal per hour . but the extra hp of the 3530 will get the job done faster than the smaller 3320 so the it would save fuel since the 3320 would still be working. Right? Since it has a turbo and it cost more to build

I have a 3520 but almost purchased a 3320. I think both are fine and really there isn't much difference between the two. I just happened to get my 3520 new for cheaper than a 3320 new (long story), but I doubt any of the tasks I do with my 3520 I couldn't do with the 3320. You will lose traction way before you run out of power, IMO.

Specs:
Product Specification for 3520 Compact Tractor (37 hp)

All the info is in the specs.
We've had lengthy discussions about turbo and non turbo. Basically it comes down to what you like. I like the non turbo (3320 engine is bigger that the 3520/3720) I'm not a big turbo fan they run hotter but the Deere's are pretty much bullet proof either way. I want to keep the fuel usage down low, most time my tractor runs at ~1600 rpms except when I'm blowing or bush hogging. 33 hp is enough for me (right now anyway) and it pulls all my implements. I like the two series for running around. They're nice little tractors but they won't do the work I need so I went to the 3320 with the 48 BH, I'm set, the 46 hoe just didn't do the heavy work I wanted it to. It's a nice hoe though.
Cost is a factor in some things but not so much in the engines. Cost gets you more hp with more complexity. Usually cost in tractors gets you bigger pumps, faster hydros, etc.
I would say at 16000 rpm both tractors get close to the same economy with the 3320 having the edge. Full out I'd say the 3320 does marginally better

Let's get back to the OP's new tractor...you guys can fight out the 3320/3520 specs in another thread or PMs.

That's a fine looking tractor, LHS Inc!!!
So, what's your Dad think of your "toy" tractor?

The only place a 3520 or 3720 will top a 3320 is with pto implements. My 3320 will run out of traction well before power and I've got loaded tires an a 448 on the rear. And as Rob stated the 3320 has the largest engine of the line. As for the R4's those are the smaller size but I believe the smaller units have more load capacity. To the OP you'll be super happy with your new toy. Congrats!!

Matt:D
