The hydro draining probably (almost certainly) is required. I found a lot of metal in the filter for the hydro/transmission.

I don't think there is any way the balance of your money is going to be for fluids. I spent around $70 on fluids (12 gallons of hydro/tranny). Even If I would have gone with synthetics I could have doubled or tripled my fluid costs and still been several hundred dollars less than you are looking at spending.

I think I'd ask for an itemized quote, and see where the money is going before commiting to anything.
