I have a 6 foot finish mower and want to change the 3 cutting blades.

Are the nuts on the bottom that hold the blades on a normal right-tightening thread or a left handed thread? I can't loosen them in either direction but don't want to apply even more force without knowing which way loosens the nuts.

Normal right tightening on my Woods finish mower. My weak memory tells me I had to use the air hammer to loosen them the first time.

Used to have a 6ft Rhino and they were left hand. Had to use an air hammer to get them loose. Hope this is not confusing.

First time I took the blades off my Land Pride I had to hold them with a chain and and use a heavy duty breaker bar with a pipe on it. I can't remember whether it was right hand or left hand threads. My suggestion is to try to move the bolt just a little one way or the other. Once it moves at all you should be able to get it out. Once I had mine out I put them back with anti seize lube. They came out a lot easier after that.

I have never taken a blade off of a mower that the nuts weren't right hand.

woods RM 59 FIVE FOOT(the older one large pulley) is right to loosen and left to tighten.

I gave mine (Land Pride) a quick try one day and could not move them. I have recently bought an angle grinder and will sharpen with it. Don't know what I will do when time to replace.

Like I said in my earlier post, get a chain, a heavy duty breaker bar and a pipe. Put them back in with anti seize lube and you won't have a problem getting them out. Now if I could just get the stump jumper off my KK brush cutter to fix that bad seal I would really be doing something.

I will give that a try.

If you can get your hands on an impact wrench, it will make things a lot easier. I serviced my blades for the first time a few weeks ago and used a battery impact wrench and it worked great. Bolts/nuts were standard direction.
