Finish Mower Blade Question

Just purchased a used 3PT 7" Finish mower. It had the blades on upside down, the guy wondered why it wasn't cutting tall grass, just bogging down his 23hp tractor. when i took them off to turn them over i noticed what appears to be a carbide or coated where they actually cut. Has anyone seen this before?

BTW it is a Buhler\Farm king finish mower

My Hustler Super Z zero turn has the Fusion tipped blades. (A rough hard coating on the cutting edge of the blade)
Hardener that helps the blades stay sharp longer

Oregon makes a "fusion" blade that has sintered carbide on the bottom side. Kinds looks like a 30-40 grit sandpaper.

Those are the only ones I know that have carbide.

I'm surprised a 7" mower can bog down a 23 hp tractor, even if the blades are installed wrong. (Walking away in shame for making fun of a simple typo, lol).

you guys! You should see just how TALL the grass is before you knock on the mower

I've ran a 6' mower with a 16 hp tractor, but the grass has to be pretty thin to do that. I run a 50" mower with a lot slower blade speed with a 17 hp tractor. It handles it great.
