Finding a buried plastic pipe

/ Finding a buried plastic pipe #21
I had the same issue a few years ago. Dye wouldn't have helped because the pipe was completely clogged. I did what many others have already suggested. I dug a perpendicular trench near where I thought the pipe exited, but up far enough from the end so that I was sure I would come across it. I actually dug it by hand and found it within 20 minutes or so.

I did eventually use the backhoe after I determined where the clog was.

20 minutes! Man, now you are making me feel bad.

I've spent hours looking for that darn pipe. Maybe it is time to break down and start shoveling.

Success!

When I wrote the words below, I never thought I'd write these words. I made up a pair of L shaped rods and they worked great! I inserted them into a small diameter piece of tubing so they could move freely in my hands. I was able to locate the pipe almost immediately and dug in the most convenient intersection. The pipe was deeper than I though it would be that close to the end, which is why my subsoiler did not catch it.

I have no idea how it works, but it did for me, this time. :confused2:

............... I know some will suggest water witching, but I've never gotten it to work for me and I'm especially skeptical for plastic pipe............
